One such incident happened recently. About 3 weeks ago Bob, a precious racing pigeon, set off on a 400 mile (644 km) journey from Guernsey in the Channel Islands to his home in Gateshead in the North East of England. The pigeon’s travel time for this distance was estimated to be around 10 hours.
However, that particular pigeon did not reach the destination. It is not possible to find out what happened to the missing pigeon and where it went. This pigeon is 4 years old. However, this question was answered last week when an elderly resident of Mexia, Monroe County, Alabama found Bob in his garden.

An elderly man reported the precious pigeon to the Monroe County Animal Shelter after it refused to leave his garden. The pigeon, now worth over 1,000 pounds, is being cared for by an animal shelter in Monroe, Alabama.
How was Bob the pigeon identified?
Spotting Bob’s distinctive leg bands, the animal shelter management guessed that the pigeon might have come from across the ocean in the United Kingdom. Following this, the team at the animal shelter shared a photo of the pigeon on social media in an attempt to reunite it with its owner, along with information about its whereabouts.
After a series of efforts it was confirmed that the pigeon belonged to Alan Todd of Winlaton, England. Then Bob enjoyed watching his owner through the webcam.
After not knowing what happened to his pigeon for so many days, Alan Todd is planning to travel from the United Kingdom to America to bring his pigeon back home. Yes, it is worth noting here that the Bob pigeon that flew more than 4000 miles was found in Monroe County, Alabama in the New York region of the United States.
