Piece work is the lifeline for many mothers who do not cover their basic needs with an 8 to 5 job. And that was the path that began Jade Weatherington a decade ago when she alternated her responsibilities as a teacher in a public school with the private classes she gave on small websites.
Today it has become a success story of virtual educators earning more than $10,000 monthly.
The achievement of economic stability was not instant but Weatherington proves that it is possible.
The online classes were initially a “just in case”. A small source of income to fall back on to pay all the bills and build up some savings.
Weatherington completed her master’s degree in education, quit her job as a teacher with the Minneapolis district, and ventured to move with her daughter to Atlanta, Georgia.
By this time, the proactive single mom had saved enough from teaching online to keep herself out of work for a year, though she worried that she would burn through her reserves over time.
