Piece work is the lifeline for many mothers who do not cover their basic needs with an 8 to 5 job. And that was the path that began Jade Weatherington a decade ago when she alternated her responsibilities as a teacher in a public school with the private classes she gave on small websites.

Today it has become a success story of virtual educators earning more than $10,000 monthly.

The achievement of economic stability was not instant but Weatherington proves that it is possible.

The online classes were initially a “just in case”. A small source of income to fall back on to pay all the bills and build up some savings.

Weatherington completed her master’s degree in education, quit her job as a teacher with the Minneapolis district, and ventured to move with her daughter to Atlanta, Georgia.

By this time, the proactive single mom had saved enough from teaching online to keep herself out of work for a year, though she worried that she would burn through her reserves over time.

Just as things started to get tough financially, a colleague called her asking her to be the substitute teacher from a friend who was going on vacation.

She agreed and after a few months she began to have more and more students due to the recommendations of her pupils. But preparing classes for each of them cost him immense effort. So searched for better options to teach online.

He tells on his website that he worked on at least 10 online teaching platforms. During that period she gave live virtual classes, sent audios, was hired by international companies, and at one point she had students in 20 countries in five different time zones. But she was not satisfied. She still viewed online teaching as piecework and she had her sights set on landing a job at a traditional brick-and-mortar school. And she made it.

But when her daughter asked to be homeschooled, Weatherington was forced to return to online education. But she had to start from scratch because the platforms she had worked on had disappeared in a teaching market that was still relatively new.

Keys to success in digital teaching

Since 2016, bet fully on online teaching to have the possibility to teach her daughter at home, to travel and to have enough income to live comfortably working with two great virtual teaching platforms.

The first two courses designed by Weatherington for a digital platform were one in arts and crafts and the other in language entitled “Master the grammar in the five-paragraph essay”. The first month started off slow and he only made $32, but in the second month he made $5,000.

At that time he quit his other jobs to dedicate himself to teaching online grammar and writing classes. In a short time, he was earning $10,000 a month working a few hours a week.

In 2020, she decided to teach independently and launched her own virtual academy, which she initially called Ashantae but now markets as Teacher Jade. His income allows him to spread the burdens and expand its educational offer hiring teachers who teach their courses. Also offers consulting for other teachers who want to follow in their footsteps and want to be entrepreneurial educators.

In 2022, he works 10 to 15 hours a week and earns more than enough to provide for his family’s needs.

“I would never have been able to earn as much money as a regular teacher”has declared to the press.

Its success is not the product of chance or chance. It is due to your hard work, your ability to identify opportunities and its ability to listen to your clientele creating new courses according to your needs.

Another point in its favor is its interest in show empathy and build trusting relationships with their students and parents. Sincerely thanking each child for attending your classes and parents for placing their trust in your teaching skills strengthens ties with your current clients and opens doors for potential users of your services.

Weatherington’s heartfelt recommendation to educators and anyone else interested in getting started in the online world is find what you love. It ensures that it is impossible to deceive children. They will detect if you are not a competent teacher or if you do not like what you do. “Teaching is so much more fun if you really enjoy the subject,” she advises.

And while Weatherington has risen to prosperity, millions of workers are trying to balance their budgets with piecework.

According to a survey published by DollarSprout in 2020, conducted with 698 American adults, up to 48% of people with temporary jobs use that money to cover extra expenses, while 27% need it to pay monthly bills.

The fees vary depending on many factors, such as the type of work, the demand. The minimum wage for some piecework jobs ranges between $5 and $10 an hour, while the maximum ranges are between $90 and $110.
