The head coach RB said that the Indian men’s ‘B’ team has a chance to win a medal in the 44th Chess Olympiad to be held in Mamallapuram. Ramesh said.

Chess Olympiad is the most prestigious tournament in chess. The first Chess Olympiad was held in London in 1927. In this case, the 44th chess tournament was to be held in Russia. But Russia was denied the chance to host the tournament due to its invasion of Ukraine.

Later on the initiative of All India Chess Federation (AICF) FIDE allowed India to host Chess Olympiad for the first time. The competition will be held from 28th to 10th August at Mamallapuram next to Chennai with the active cooperation of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin. The government has allocated Rs.100 crores for this purpose. A record 188 teams are participating in the open category and 162 teams are participating in the women’s category.

Vibrant Men’s B Team:

On the Indian side, the men’s A, B and C teams and the women’s A and B teams are participating. The Aadhaar B team has grandmasters like Nihal Sarin, Gukesh, Atiphan, Pragnananda and Raunak Sadwani, who are energetic young players. All of them between 15 to 18 years of age have experience of winning in world level competitions. RB Ramesh of Tamil Nadu is working as the head coach of the B team. The last phase of the training camp is currently underway in Chennai.

Coach Ramesh told ‘Dinamani’ about the prospects of the B team:

Team A is at the second position and Team B is at the 10th position. We are not just aiming for medals. First we try to get ahead of the 10th place. Players will be under pressure if they aim for medals. Can’t concentrate on the game. Even if he makes a small mistake, he will be happy.

Gukesh in great form, Brag:

The long-term goal is to perform well and then win a medal. The young players are missing as a team. All are playing in their first Chess Olympiad. Gukesh and Pragnananda are in great form.

Atiphan and Raunak Sadwani’s ratings have gone down. Raunak’s first training camp saw us right. Now we are also polishing the principal’s performance. We have increased the confidence level of both. All 5 players are lively boys. Everyone dances without fear.

The other teams are afraid to see them. The top two players in all the teams are the best. Team USA is on top. We are not underestimating any team.

Competition in our country has advantages and disadvantages. Great arrangements have been made. Ramesh said that the Tamil Nadu government has undertaken a challenging matter.
