Yambu: As part of Baliperunnal, more than six lakh animals have been sacrificed under the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, officials said. Different types of sacrifices including goats, cows and camels were completed in different parts. The highest number of sacrificial acts was reported in the Meccan slaughterhouses. The number of slaughters in the ministry’s slaughterhouses is 1,02,200. 37,050 sacrifices were performed in the Eastern Province and 36,700 sacrifices in Madinah. After Makkah, the most sacrifices took place in Riyadh. During Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), the Saudi government is implementing a massive scheme to systematically distribute meat to the needy by sacrificing animals according to the Islamic faith.

The sacrificial meat distribution project is being implemented under the auspices of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KS Relief). Sacrificial meat has already been distributed to needy families, the sick and orphans in countries such as Yemen and Somalia. This is a project that will benefit 2,800 people from 4,000 families in Mansoura, Sheikh Usman, Aden and Dar Saad in Yemen. In Somalia, the meat of 550 sacrificial animals was distributed. The Saudi Press Agency reported that it will greatly benefit 48,000 poor, displaced and drought-prone people in various regions of Somalia.
