Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition protest in the Legislative Assembly demanding an apology from MM Mani MLA for insulting womanhood. The opposition demanded that the remark against KK Rama be retracted and apologized.

The Speaker replied that only unparliamentary words could be changed and that an apology could not be said. With this, the opposition took center stage with placards. Opposition leader VD Satheesan said that TP Chandrasekaran was killed as part of the party court verdict. He said that he should not say who the judge of the party court was.

MM Mani was not present in the assembly today. Amid opposition protests, the Speaker expedited the House proceedings. The Question Hour was canceled and the House adjourned for today.

Yesterday, KK Rama criticized the Chief Minister and the police during the discussion on the request for funds of the Home Department. Then, MM Mani’s speech in the Legislative Assembly insulting KK Rama became controversial. The reference was that ‘that great widow was their destiny’. The opposition, which made noise yesterday demanding an apology from Mani, left the House as Mani continued his speech. The Chief Minister justified that there was no mistake in the speech recalling the internal days of Travancore and meant that we had no part in her widowhood.
