Singer Counting Cruises: “People Find Reasons Not to Love Jews”
The Jewish singer Adam Doritz in an intimate interview prior to his performance in Israel, during which he talks about his successful career, the difficulties along the way, and the dissociative disorder from which he has suffered for many years.
Most of us are familiar with the band Counting Crows following the unforgettable and temporary hit “Mr. Jones”, the client from the band’s debut album which managed to sell over 10 million copies. Doritz has become an international star, one who is known for following the romantic relationships he had with Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox.
Now, in an intimate interview, the singer reveals that despite the international success, there were quite a few difficulties along the way. ‘In 2008 I was diagnosed with a dissociative disorder, one that makes me look at the world like a movie, leading to long episodes of disconnection and alienation from the environment. “It’s a disorder that has managed to sabotage relationships and my life in general,” he said.
The singer also referred to the treatment Israel receives from various artists: “I am a Jew, and many people find ways not to love Jews. It is important to understand that anti-Semitism exists, it is not an imaginary thing. “I think to sit and boycott Israel in the wake of decades of conflict is childish,” he said.
He added: “The question is whether there is a desire to stop fighting and finally find a solution. Of course I will not go down on either side, but I really think it’s a stupid situation that must come to an end. Now I’m mostly excited to get to Israel soon, after years of wanting to do it. ‘
