The Paris Open Chess Series is held in Serbia. In it, India’s young grandmaster Prathyananda has defeated fellow Indian players Srija Seshattri, Lazar Yordanov, Kazibek Nogarbek (Kazakhstan), compatriots Koustav Chatterjee, Aristenberg Urasayev (Kazakhstan), etc. At this stage, Pragyananda from Chennai who topped with 8 points including 7 wins and 2 draws in this series of nine rounds has won the champion title.

Alexander Brechte of Russia is second with 7.5 points. Meanwhile, it is significant that Pragnananda has been placed in the India ‘B’ team in the 44th Chess Olympiad series to begin on the 28th in Chennai.
