The Porta Ferrada festival has already sold close to the 60% of the capacity available in this 60th edition. Specifically, more than 33,000 seats have already been sold and the forecast is to exceed last year’s 42,000 spectators. The festival is held in Sant Feliu de Guíxols in July and August. It started with Marisa Monte and this weekend has opened the Guíxols Arena with the performance of the British Jamie Cullum and the Norwegians Kings of Convenience. Since the organization of the event have been satisfied with the pace of ticket sales. Among others, the concerts of Joan Manuel Serrat, who has sold out, and those of Manolo García and Estopa, which have a high sales rate, stand out.

The artistic director of the Porta Ferrada Festival, Albert Mallol, highlighted the good response they are noticing from the public for the programming and quality of the shows. He added that people emphasize that it is one of the years with “best artistic combination”.

This weekend the Mandalain Ballet of Biarritz and the musical in homage to Aretha Franklin ‘Amazing Grace’ also passed through the Espai Port.

The deputy director of the festival, Sergi Rosselló, also highlighted the “transversality” of the Porta Ferrada for the variety of styles it presents. In fact, for Rosselló this is a quality that differentiates the event and that makes it a “benchmark” in Catalonia in relation to summer festivals.

The festival is scheduled to host concerts by artists such as Herbie Hancock, Simple Minds, Iggy Pop and Kool & The Gang; Manolo García, Tanxungueiras or Estopa. In fact, those from Cornellà de Llobregat will close the festival on August 21st.

Finally, this weekend the cycle ‘Music in the Stands’ has begun with Mascanada 6. This is a series of free concerts in various venues in Sant Feliu. Next Thursday it will be Raquel Lua’s turn in Plaça del Puig.
