Regarding this, the officials of the Housing and Urban Development Department said: According to the City Planning Act, land for future road expansion will be acquired when permission is granted for construction projects. The construction project applicant has to hand over the land for the already defined road width as well as the land for future expansion. In this case, if additional floor space permission is required beyond the specified amount, then a fee has to be paid for it.

A portion of the tolls thus paid can be used for road development works. Also, a part of the additional land development fee known as Premium FSI, which is collected by payment of tolls, can be given for road widening works. We are exploring the possibility of this. Appropriate decisions will be taken in consultation with other department officials and experts, they said.
