RWE builds solar park in Inden

by time news

Christian Meisen knows his mission very well: the 39-year-old is supposed to capture the sun, convert it into electricity and store it. And that in a symbolic place: in the Rhenish mining area, at the Inden opencast lignite mine of all places, between Eschweiler and Jülich. On the western edge, Meisen is building a solar park here for the energy giant RWE: 26,500 modules, on a 100 meter wide, 1.4 kilometer long strip. This park is said to have an output of 14.4 megawatts. Battery storage is also part of it, 9.6 megawatt hours. The current should be able to last for up to two hours.
