On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Basketball Association, the Trichy Regional Under-16 Basketball Tournament was held at the Golden Gates Matric High School campus in Perambalur Venkatesapuram from the 14th till yesterday. 240 students from 10 revenue districts of Trichy, Karur, Pudukottai, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai and Dindigul participated in this. There were separate competitions for boys and girls.
In this competition, which was held in various stages, Thanjavur and Dindigul district teams clashed in the finals in the students category. In this Thanjavur team won with the score of 68-49 and became the first. Dindigul team secured 2nd position. In the final for girls, Thanjavur and Mayiladuthurai district teams clashed. In this, the Mayiladuthurai team won 50-36 points. Thanjavur team got 2nd place. Subsequently, the winning teams qualified to participate in state-level competitions.
Following this, Tamil Nadu Basketball Association President and Indian Olympic Association Vice President Aadhav Arjuna, Tamil Nadu Basketball Association Secretary Aziz Ahmed, Competition Coordinating Committee Chairman and School Chancellor Ravichandran and Vice President Harise Ravichandran presented trophies and certificates to the winning teams.
