Tourists mostly go to the hotel during these holidays. First, it is better to book, online or by phone. But beware, no withdrawal is possible. Distance purchases certainly provide for a withdrawal period of 14 days, but accommodation benefits from an exception. These are either a deposit or a down payment. A deposit is a first payment which then commits you to pay the entire stay, the hotel cannot cancel either. If you pay a deposit, you can always cancel, but you will lose the amount paid. If it is the hotelier who cancels, he will have to pay you twice the amount advanced. If the contract does not specify anything, it is a deposit.

That’s it, you’ve arrived on the spot, but the room is really not that great. There are then two solutions. Either it does not correspond at all to the description of the ad and you are then entitled to request another room, under penalty of filing a complaint for misleading advertising. Either the description is not very different from the real state of the room you don’t like, then you will have to negotiate with the manager to change rooms, but he is free to refuse. If breakfast is not included in the price, the hotel cannot impose it on you. If he demands it despite everything, it is a case of tied selling, punishable by a fine of 1,500 euros.

The hotel is responsible in the event of theft or damage. The compensation is total if you have entrusted objects to the hotel in person, for example when it is a deposit in a safe.

In other cases, the hotelier’s liability is limited, and compensation amounts to 100 times the daily price of the rented room. If your vehicle is stolen or damaged while it is parked in the hotel’s private car park, you must receive compensation of 50 nights. The only exemptions for the hotelier are force majeure or gross negligence on the part of the client.

Last thing, if you want to stay a few more days, the hotel can offer you a more expensive room if the one you occupied is selected.
