The film ‘Jai Bheem’ directed by Gnanavel starring actor Suriya was released and was well received by the fans. But a notice was sent to the film crew saying that the film portrayed the Vanniyar community in a bad way. Following this, Suriya and the film’s director Gnanvel clarified that they did not make the film with the intention of offending a particular community.

But Santosh Nayak, founder of Rudra Vanniyar Sena, filed a complaint in the Saidapeta court demanding action against the crew for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Vanniyar community in the film.

Following this, Suriya and director T. A petition was filed seeking to quash the Gnanavel case, prohibit the trial and prevent strict action against them.

In this situation, the judge who heard the case ordered the police not to take strict action against Suriya and director TS. And the case was adjourned to July 21.
