After recently announcing the completion of the acquisition of Bungie, the developer of the Destiny series, Sony earlier announced the acquisition of the e-sports event platform Repeat, which is expected to strengthen the development of e-sports event applications.

Last year, Sony has cooperated with the e-sports venture capital firm RTS to jointly acquire the world’s largest fighting event “EVO”, and will also hold its own events through the PlayStation Tournaments platform to connect the related market of e-sports events.

Before that, Repeat had hosted more than 100,000 e-sports events and attracted more than 2.3 million people to participate, and hosted e-sports events with games such as “Fortress Heroes”, “League of Legends” and “Call of Duty: Warzone”. The announcement of the acquisition of the Repeat e-sports platform further highlights Sony’s desire to connect more market development opportunities through e-sports events.

According to Sony, the acquisition of Repeat is just the beginning. In the future, it will further reveal more about its layout in the e-sports market, and will also allow Repeat to acquire more resources, technology, and game content from Sony.
