The idea is similar to video calling services like Zoom (ZM), which were in high demand during the epidemic, but with some unique Snapshot outlets. Users will be able to initiate calls faster and easier because they are already connected to friends and can see when others are connected, according to the company. Snapchat’s signed photo lenses – the ones that can make users look like dog ears, freckles or other features – will soon be available for video calling in the web version as well.

As in the app, the web version of Snapchat opens directly to the camera to encourage users to send photos to friends. In the sidebar, users will see a list of their recent friends calls, where they can open photos or start a chat. The web version will not include all the features of the mobile app, like a “map” where users can follow their friends.
