The Italian firm Piaggio succeeded in marketing the three-wheeled MP3 16 years ago. It created an entirely new and revolutionary segment by directly targeting car-only drivers. By registering it in a regulation that allows the driving of this three-wheeled motorcycle with a car driving license, success among motorists was practically assured. To date they have sold over 230,000 units in all these years.
Given the success of this curious and effective vehicle, the Italian firm has just updated it and for Spain it is already marketed with three different versions: MP3 530 EXCLUSIVE de 12.999 euros, MP3 400 SPORT de 10.999 euros, y MP3 400 de 10.499 euros.
The renovation has been very deep. It starts with a new body design, now with a sportier air, and a really high level of equipment. Several devices that are included in the purchase are striking, such as the ARAS system, in the 530 hpe version, which collaborates with the instrument panel through a seven-inch color TFT screen or the keyless start system and connectivity general. In the top-of-the-range version, it is offered with speed control and reverse gear with a video camera system.
The engines start from the two versions with the same 400 cubic centimeter engine and 35 horsepower and the top of the range, the 530 hpe Exclusive, increases its displacement to achieve a power of 44 horsepower.
Installed in the driving position, apart from the mandatory foot brake on the right side, the spectacular and large fully digital central instrument panel stands out. It is noted that both the seat and the handlebars have been updated compared to previous versions. Now the handlebar has a somewhat more delayed position and is now located a little higher and to make the positioning of the feet more comfortable, it is lower. Another detail, due to its originality, is the new position of the parking brake lever.

In terms of load capacity, two full-face helmets can be housed under the seat and in the central glove compartment, behind the windshield, there is a USB socket to recharge the mobile phone.
In the safety section, apart from the good stability and braking provided by the three wheels with the available articulated suspension, it has three-channel ABS anti-lock brakes and ASR traction control with two modes of action in the 530 hpe version, sports and normal.
