Long months of anticipation and pleading on the part of Nate Diaz finally paid off: one of the organization’s favorite fighters got a fight after all. After coming out against Dana White and the UFC on Twitter and even Peed on the organization’s officesUFC reports say Dias is expected to fight in UFC 279 against none other than Hamzat Chimaev.
This is a tough matchup for the Stockton fighter, as he is approaching his final fights in the organization when he is 37 and on the other hand Chimaev, who has fought five fights in the UFC so far, stands at a perfect 11-0 balance, with seven wins already in the first round of The battle.
Chimaev himself has already had time to react to the fascinating battle and sounds confident towards him. In an interview with ESPN he said: “I’ll be in charge of Nate Diaz’s funeral in the UFC. He’s not going to be the same Diaz after I finish with him.”
This fight between Chimaev and Dias is expected to be the main fight of UFC 279, which will take place at the Betty Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on September 10 and the consequences of this fight are great. Chimeyev’s victory will not only prolong his invincible streak, but will also be the second consecutive battle that Chimeyev defeats a tough opponent.
On the other hand, Diaz’s victory may have been his swan song. This is his last fight on contract, after an 18-year career and after all the talk, tweets and confidence he has shown in recent months, this will also be his chance to back up his statements and show everyone that he still has it.
How about this for a fight…
