Creation of post of Special Secretary on demand of Public Works Department: Govt

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has issued an order accepting the request of the Public Works Department and granting temporary special secretary post to the department. When the DMK government assumed office last year, it divided various departments and created new departments to speed up government work. The names of the departments have also been changed. The Water Resources Department was separated from the Public Works Department. Duraimurugan was appointed as the minister. AV Velu is the Minister for Public Works.

Orders were promulgated regarding the division of the department and the posts of temporary Additional Chief Secretaries were created in place of the Chief Secretary for the two departments respectively. Accordingly, Sandeep Saxena was appointed to the Water Resources Department and Dayanand Kataria to the Public Works Department. After that, the Water Resources Department, which was a division of the Public Works Department, started functioning as a separate department.

In this case, the Public Works Department recommended to create the posts of a Special Secretary and Joint Secretary in place of the Chief Engineer who will look after the construction and maintenance of buildings. After carefully considering this, the Government of Tamil Nadu has issued an order sanctioning the posts of a Special Secretary and Joint Secretary.

Accordingly, these posts will be effective for one year from the date of appointment. Also, the pay scale of Special Secretary has been fixed at ‘Rs 1,25,200 – Rs 2,54,800′ and that of Joint Secretary at Rs 1,23,400 – Rs 2,54,800’. Allowable steps including Allowance Rate, House Rent Rate, City Rate are applicable for these posts along with pay. This information has been mentioned in the government order signed by Maithili K.
