Duraisamy, who has set up a rainwater collection system in the Vennaimalai area under the Karur Municipal Corporation, said: I use the collected rainwater for irrigation of my garden and for daily needs including drinking water and bathing.

I had bought 50 cents of land next to our garden. This is where my press works. The terrace area of this building is 20 feet wide and 80 feet long. Last year 2017, the water in the well in my garden dried up. To save the rain water, I set up a system covering an area of 20,000 square feet. I made a ground tank with a capacity of nine quarter lakh liters to store the water from it. The water collected in it flows to the trees. If it rains here once, it gives us the same benefits as if it rained twice. When it rains enough to overflow this tank, I have made a separate system to drain the excess water into the ground. I dug a well 14 feet in circumference and 16 feet deep and poured white stones in it. Because of this, the underground water level has risen to the extent that we are surprised. In the 550-feet borewell, which has dried up, the water is bubbling at 15 feet, and in the 35-feet well, which has dried up, and 10 feet deep. In the meantime, we have built a house in 2020. I have collected the rainwater falling on the terrace through a pipe, purified it naturally and made a system that can be used as drinking water. In this, naturally distilled water is so cold. I use the remaining water for drinking water for cooking, bathing and washing clothes. Everyone can think like this and collect rain water according to their convenience!
