Ukraine’s first lady, Olena Zlanska, met in Washington yesterday with US First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, on the first visit of the Ukrainian president’s wife abroad since the beginning of the Russian invasion about five months ago.

While President Volodymyr Zlansky has not left his country since the invasion and made do with video speeches in dozens of countries, Zalanska came to the US on Monday to thank American support for the country and to persuade the administration to increase military and humanitarian aid in the ongoing war. International, Samantha Powers, and with Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who made it clear that the U.S. continues to provide the necessary assistance and that it will also assist in the country’s recovery from invasion damage. Zalanska noted that Blinken told her that “Ukraine will remain sovereign and independent for longer than Putin.”

Meanwhile, the EU is preparing for another round of sanctions against Russia. According to the draft proposal unveiled yesterday, the new list includes 48 individuals and nine entities, including leaders of the Night Wolves motorcyclists club, actors, politicians and family members of oligarchs and military personnel, who are already on the sanctions list.
