Film celebrities like actresses and singers recorded sexual harassment on Twitter in 2018 using the hashtag ‘me too’. At that time, poet Leena Manimekala had also accused Me Too against famous director Sushiganesan. Susi Ganesan had filed a defamation case against Leena Manimekalai in Saidapet Court, Chennai, claiming that this was a false allegation.

In this case, he had filed a petition seeking an order to transfer the case to another magistrate, alleging that there was a mistake in the trial procedure of the defamation case. The Madras Principal Sessions Court dismissed Leena’s case saying that there was no basis for this complaint. Against this order, Leena Manimegala had filed an appeal in the High Court.

Moreover, an affidavit has been filed in the Madras High Court on behalf of poet Leena Manimokalai that she will give full cooperation in the expeditious completion of the defamation case filed against her by director Susi Ganesan.

When this case came up for hearing before Judge Satishkumar, it was argued on the part of director Sushikanesan that Leena Manimegal was dragging out the trial for more than three years and did not give full cooperation to the trial even though the Supreme Court’s deadline to complete the case within four months had expired in June.

He pointed out that Leena had told Manimekalai that India is a country without security and has no faith in the Indian law as a case has been registered in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and other states regarding the Kali film poster controversy. It was contended that he would not appear even if summoned by this court and that the affidavit filed in the name of Leena Manimegala in her younger brother’s name to cooperate in speedy disposal of the case is also inadmissible. After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge adjourned the case for four weeks.
