Ranil Wickremesinghe will be sworn in as the new President of Sri Lanka today

Due to the severe economic crisis in Sri Lanka, people are protesting. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa recently resigned as the people’s protest against the government for not taking any action on the economic crisis increased day by day.

Ranil Wickremesinghe was sworn in as the country’s interim president. Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, was also sworn in as the Interim President of Sri Lanka after the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapakse.

In this situation, for the first time in Sri Lanka, Ranil won the presidential election conducted by the members of parliament by getting 134 votes.

Ranil Wickremesinghe, Dallas Alagapperuma and Anura Dissanayake contested for the post of president in this election. Ranil Wickremesinghe was declared the winner with maximum 134 votes.

Following this, he will be officially sworn in today. This has been confirmed by the Principal’s office.

It is also reported that Ranil Wickramasinghe will continue as the President till November 2024.
