Muscat: Oman ranks 68th in the list of world’s most powerful passports. Oman shares this position with Saudi Arabia in the Henley Passport Index. The validity of the passport is determined by how many countries the passport holder can visit without prior visa and on arrival visa. The score of Oman passport is 81. This means that an Omani passport holder can travel to 81 countries without a visa and on arrival visa.

Among the GCC countries, the UAE is leading the way with a global ranking of 15th. 176 is the passport score of UAE. Qatar is ranked 55th with a score of 99. Kuwait’s passport score is 96, ranked 59. Bahrain is ranked 66th. Passport score is 86.

The Henley report has been prepared using the official data of the International Air Transport Association. Topping the list is the Asian nation of Japan. A score of 193. Singapore and South Korea tied for second with a score of 192. The first top ten positions are dominated by European countries.

Germany and Spain are in third place. 190 is the passport score of these countries. Finland, Italy and Luxembourg are in fourth place with a score of 189. Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden, which come in fifth place, have a passport score of 188.
