Eddie Vedder has health problems after a performance in France with his band – and they were probably no coincidence. A concert in Vienna was therefore cancelled.

Wien.

The US rock band Pearl Jam has canceled a concert planned for Wednesday (July 20) in Austria’s capital Vienna at short notice.

Frontman Eddie Vedder (57) is struggling with vocal problems due to extreme weather conditions and smoke from forest fires at a previous performance in France, according to a statement that the band shared on social networks on Wednesday evening.

The grunge rock band played an open-air concert at a festival in Paris last Sunday. There, heat, dust and smoke from forest fires in the area affected the singer’s voice, the statement said. Vedder is under medical treatment, but was not able to recover before the performance in Vienna.

“This is cruel news and terrible timing,” the band apologized. Vedder wanted to perform – only his voice is simply not available at the moment. The money for the tickets will be refunded, it said. (dpa)
