Delhi Lt Governor Denies Arvind Kejriwal permission to attend International Cities Summit

The International Cities Summit will be held in Singapore from July 31 to August 3. Singaporean Consul Simon Wong had invited Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to participate in this conference last June.

Following this, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had requested permission for this trip from the Central Government through the Deputy Governor.

However, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate his visit to Singapore while the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi took time to grant permission for Arvind Kejriwal’s trip.

In this case, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has refused permission for Delhi Chief Minister’s visit to Singapore. Responding to this, Arvind Kejriwal has said that there is no change in going to Singapore.

In a letter written to the Lieutenant Governor in this regard, he said, “The Chief Minister of Delhi has been invited to participate in the Summit of World Cities in which not only mayors but also city leaders and multidisciplinary experts will participate. He mentioned that it is a matter of great pride that Delhi’s exemplary work in education, health and power sectors is being recognized on the global stage.

Arvind Kejriwal expressed his disagreement with the Lt. Governor’s decision in this matter and said, “Even the Prime Minister will not be able to travel abroad due to their explanations in this regard. So I have to apply to the central government for my foreign travel.”
