Fuel aid paid by employers: the Assembly votes to double the ceiling

by time news

The deputies continue their marathon before the holidays. The National Assembly voted on Friday to double the tax-free aid that companies can pay to employees to cover their fuel costs, raising the ceiling from 200 to 400 euros. “We must ensure that working French people are not penalized by the prices at the pump”, said budget rapporteur Jean-René Cazeneuve (LREM), underlining “a very balanced proposal”.

The deputies voted for an LREM amendment which doubles the fuel aid from 200 to 400 euros, as part of the first reading of the draft amending budget for 2022. It has been increased from 200 to 600 for the Overseas Territories, via a sub-amendment by Members of the opposition group LIOT. On the left, the deputies deplored a measure which “did not go far enough”. On the right, LR asked for the same doubling of aid.

Increase in the “sustainable mobility package”

Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne had opened the door on Thursday to this doubling, and the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire confirmed it on Friday, specifying that it would be possible to combine it with the management of the subscription. collective transport. This boost was provided for in the preliminary versions of the purchasing power measures, but had finally disappeared from the amending finance bill (PLFR).

The return of this provision comes as the executive and Les Républicains are trying to reach an agreement in the face of the high level of fuel prices, within the framework of discussions in the Assembly. The deputies also adopted another LREM amendment which intends to promote an increase in the “sustainable mobility package” paid by employers: the ceiling for accumulation with transport subscriptions will increase from 600 to 800 euros.
