The summer is still long and the 2022/23 Euroleague season will open in only about two months, but there is no doubt that so far the transfer window has provided quite a bit of action – in the Maccabi Tel Aviv sector and in general. On the “Eurohops” website today (Sunday) they chose the 10 biggest signings and the list does not include a single player from the Israeli representative in the factory, despite the fact that the Yellows have landed quite a few interesting and prestigious names at the Euroleague level since the appointment of Oded Ketch.
It should be noted that the transfers mentioned were not ranked based on level of importance or interest, but only listed the top 10 players who changed teams this summer. In addition, in “Eurohops” they mentioned that players like Nemanja Bejlica (linked to Fenerbahce), Nick Kalathis (also approaching the Turkish team) and Turnika Shenglia (probably will stay at Virtus Bologna) have not yet found a team for the coming season.
Lorenzo Brown, according to many the hottest name that landed at Maccabi Tel Aviv, was marked as one of the two players left off the list “at the last minute”, alongside John Brown who joined Monaco from Kazan.
A player who was included in the top 10 and is strongly associated with Maccabi Tel Aviv is Scotty Wilbkin, who left the club after four seasons and signed with Fenerbahce. Two players who have left the Yellow-Blues from Istanbul, Nando de Colo and Yann Vesely, were also mentioned after the French moved to Villerban in a rather surprising move and the Czech strengthened Barcelona. Another player born in the Czech Republic who joined the team of Saronas Jasikvicius is Tomasz Storanski, who returned to Europe from the NBA in a transfer that obviously entered the top ten.
The European champion Anadolu Efes has one representative on the list: Will Clyburn, who came from CSKA Moscow, which was banished from the Euroleague. Its runner-up, Real Madrid, added Sergio Rodriguez, who returned for a second term, and Mario Zonia, who came from Kazan – both were included among the 10 interesting transfers.
