Strict action if illegal foreign workers are hired: Saudi warns

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has warned that it will take action against companies and institutions that employ illegal foreign workers. Employees who are allowed to work for others or for themselves can be penalized. Saudi Public Prosecution has issued a warning in this regard.

Violators will be fined up to 10,000 Riyals and banned from recruitment for up to five years. Apart from this, their names will be advertised in the local media at their own expense. Expatriates will be deported from Saudi Arabia.

The managing director of the firm shall be liable to imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year. Officials added that people should call 911 in the Makkah and Riyadh regions and 999 across other regions to report violations of residence, employment and border security regulations.
