A doctor from Kurunegala district appointed to work at the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital has rented a house on Melmadi Road and has been working there.

In this case, he hired a 38-year-old woman from Ampara central camp to work as a domestic worker, and on March 26, 2017, the said domestic worker gave birth to a baby boy.

The child was thrown into the well of the house by the seal, and the maid was admitted to the Teaching Hospital on March 26 due to continuous bleeding.

Following this, on March 31st, after the doctor complained to the police that his well smelled bad, the police searched the well and recovered a baby from the well and arrested the maid.

Later, during the investigation, it was revealed that the child was born to him and the doctor, and that the doctor performed the delivery at home and threw the baby into the well.

At the same time, the doctor said that he had nothing to do with it and that the child had nothing to do with him, and as per the court order, the child’s blood sample and the doctor’s blood sample were taken and sent to the government for genetic testing.

The government analysis department has sent the report to the police and the court that the blood sample of the doctor and the baby’s blood sample are the same in this genetic test and that the baby was born to the doctor.

Following this, in a series of investigations led by Chief Inspector Chandra Kumara, the Major Crime Prevention Division, the doctor who was on duty at the Kandy Hospital was summoned to the police station on Monday and arrested on the charge of concealing the child born to him and steps have been taken to produce him in court.
