Madrid: Spain’s tennis player Carlos Alcarez with a rare achievement. ATP 19-year-old Alcarez became the second youngest player to enter the top five in the world rankings.

He is the first player since Rafael Nadal to achieve this feat in the 21st century. Nadal was 18 when he reached the top five in May 2005. Alcarez would have finished fourth had he not lost to Lorenzo Musetti in the Hamburg European Open final. Nadal was 18 years, 11 months and six days old when he became world number five on May 9, 2005. Alcarez became the fifth at 19 years, two months and 20 days. Former world number one Novak Djokovic of Serbia was 19 years, 11 months and eight days old when he finished fifth on April 30, 2007. Australia’s Luton Hewitt was 20 years, four months and one day old when he reached the top five on 25 June 2001.

Alcarez was ranked 32nd in the world at the start of this season. He is the third to reach the top five as a teenager. Nadal and Djokovic are the predecessors. Alcarez and Nadal have four ATP titles each this season. Won titles. Russia’s Daniil Medvedev remains world number one.

The star’s score is 7,775 points. Germany’s Alexander Zverev is second with 6,850 points and Nadal is third with 6,165 points. Stephanos Tsitsipas of Greece is ahead of Alcarez with 5,045 points.

Medvedev could not participate in the Wimbledon Grand Slam. The Wimbledon organizing committee has banned Russian and Belarusian players because of the invasion of Ukraine.
