The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued an ordinance regarding the scheme of providing breakfast to school students in Tamil Nadu. The list of food served in it has been released.

Breakfast Plan: 5 Goals

The breakfast program for government school students up to class 5 has 5 objectives.

1. Ensuring that students come to school without hunger

2. Ensuring that students do not suffer from malnutrition

3. To raise the nutritional status of students, especially to eliminate anemia deficiency

4. Increase and retain student attendance in schools

5. Reducing the workload of working mothers

Details of morning snacks in schools:

1. On Monday morning Rava Upluma type of food will be served. Vegetable sambar is served with any of rava, semiya, rice, wheat semolina salt.

2. Khichdi type of food will be served on Tuesday morning. Rava vegetable khichdi, semiya khichdi, corn vegetable khichdi, wheat rava vegetable khichdi will be served.

3. Vegetable sambar is served with Rava Pongal or Ven Pongal on Wednesday.

4. Upluma type of food will be served on Thursday.

5. Rava kesari or semiya kesari is served with khichdi on Friday.

The Tamil Nadu government has published the amount of food given to a child in the morning per day.

Rice, semolina, wheat, semia should be 50 grams of any one of these.

Lentils for sambar should be 15 grams each.

The decree states that hot, nutritious meals should be prepared for students who come to school in the morning and served to students on all school working days.
