Fires in Gironde: how the Arcachon basin is trying to save its tourist season

Quite a symbol. Two weeks after the start of the fires, the Dune du Pilat reopened to the public on Wednesday. A new start under strict access conditions, via buses and with a marked route. But for tourism professionals, it is a first clearing in a horizon obscured by the fire of La Teste-de-Buch which alone engulfed more than 7000 ha of forests, the five campsites at the foot of the dune and three restaurants.
