GGD IJsselland will start vaccinating against monkeypox on August 1 – RTV Focus

by time news

Zwolle – On Monday August 1, GGD IJsselland will start vaccinating against monkeypox. The vaccines made available by the ministry are intended for specific risk groups. Those are the people with the highest risk of monkeypox. In this way, the outbreak of the virus is limited the fastest.

Who are they going to vaccinate?

The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and RIVM determine the selection criteria for those who are eligible for the vaccine. In this way, the people who run the greatest risk of infection are reached. The vaccinations are given in 3 rounds. The following high-risk target groups are vaccinated preventively:

anyone who is registered as a Prep user for HIV with the GGD IJsselland or with the general practitioner, or who is on the waiting list for this;
anyone who is registered with HIV with a high risk (the latter is still determined by the RIVM);
anyone who is known to be at high risk in the STI clinic.
The GGD will start vaccinating the first group on Monday.

Personal invitation for vaccination

Everyone who is eligible for a vaccination will receive a personal invitation from GGD IJsselland. No one is currently eligible for a vaccination without a personal invitation.
