In the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, investigations are underway into a health worker who administered the vaccine to 30 students with a single injection.
The incident took place in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh state. A corona vaccination event was organized there for the students.
As far as the Covid-19 vaccine is concerned in India, there are “one injection only” instructions.
About 2 billion people have been vaccinated in India so far.
Patients are usually given single-use injections to prevent diseases like HIV in India. However, needles have sometimes been used more than once due to shortage of needles.
Jitendra Roy, the health worker who administered the injection, told the media that the health department had given him only one injection and he had only followed orders.
Parents who came with their children complained to the authorities after seeing the same injection being used on multiple children.
Roy was missing from the school after state health officials arrived. His mobile phone was switched off.
The state health department has registered a case against him for negligence. Similarly, an investigation has been initiated against the officials who provided the equipment for vaccination.
Speaking about this, the spokesperson of the opposition Congress party said that the state health minister should resign.
After China, India has vaccinated more than 2 billion people. In July, the government announced a 75-day free Covid booster scheme to mark the 75th year of independence.
Official data shows that 98 percent of adults in India have received at least one vaccine and 90 percent have received two doses.
On Wednesday, India’s one-day number of corona infections stood at 18,313. It is noteworthy that 57 others died.
