Cassana shared the amazing discovery with his advisor, who is the director of shark conservation research at the Florida Marine Laboratory. They determined it was probably a Greenland shark. In Mada they said that not too much is known about the Greenland shark today. The species is known to live up to 400 years, and the shark that was discovered dates back to these years, so it is also apparently already half-blind and moves slowly.
