Hamburg – When Ingrid talks about what’s on her heart, you just want to hug her.
For the 86-year-old, a song by Camillo Felgen is much more than a famous hit from the 1960s. For them it is a piece of life history.
It goes like this: “I am in awe of snow-white hair / They beautify a mother’s face / And they crown the work of years…”
The retiree says: “It was my late mother’s favorite song. I hear it every year on the anniversary of her death.”
But the charming senior citizen cannot find a musician to play the song for her! Ingrid: “Since the musician who regularly came to our home with his guitar left, there hasn’t been any music here.”
Because it is a matter close to her heart, she has a plan against loneliness in the home: “I would like to hire a musician myself, I would pay for him from my pension. I would spend up to 100 euros!”
Because: “For me, music is quality of life. I’ve been wanting to place an ad or send a taxi to the train station to find a musician!”
What is important to Grandma Ingrid: “He must also be able to play ‘You only exist once for me’ and ‘Blindfolded’!”

Expert: That’s why music makes us happy
Music lovers have known this for a long time: music can make us happy!
Music therapist Karin Böseler (62): “Music affects the midbrain and influences the reward system, just like chocolate, for example. Happy hormones are released.”
Music can therefore also be used as therapy, for example to treat fears, chronic pain, trauma or dementia. Böseler:
“Especially in dementia patients, music strengthens the long-term memory. Songs from youth can bring inner contentment.”
