The rupee strengthened against the US dollar as investors’ confidence increased and stock markets rallied.
Apart from this, increased foreign investment inflows contributed greatly to the appreciation of the rupee. The rupee was at 79.55 in early trade on Friday in the interbank foreign exchange market. It touched a high of 79.17 and a low of 79.56.
At the close of trading, the rupee gained 45 paise to settle at 79.24 against the dollar, currency traders said.
Crude oil was $109.58 a barrel
Brent crude oil rose 2.28 percent to trade at $109.58 a barrel in international trading on Friday, market data showed.
