Holiday crossover: a fire slows down the TGV Méditerranée in the Drôme

by time news

Some holidaymakers taking the train this Saturday will have to be patient. At the end of the morning, a fire broke out south of Valence, near the high-speed line linking Lyon to the Mediterranean.

The incident disrupted TGV traffic with delays of up to 3 hours, SNCF said. An unwelcome incident as the network expects nearly a million travelers on its lines, on this crossover weekend.

The TGVs were immediately diverted on the classic line, which causes “delays of 45 to 60 minutes”, but the three trains already engaged will be 2 to 3 hours late, said a spokesperson for the company. The SNCF indicates on its website that “the return to the normal situation is always estimated at 2 p.m. »

The fire, which started from a rest area on the A7 motorway in the town of Allan (Drôme), was fixed after burning 3 ha, according to the departmental fire and rescue operational center (Codis) of the Drome.
