Happy Birthday statt „Hasta la vista“ …
The indestructible Arnold Schwarzenegger celebrates his 75th birthday on Saturday. And the action machine runs and runs and runs.
A life better than Hollywood!
The son of a village gendarme came to the USA from Graz (Austria) in 1968 – with nothing in his pockets. “I didn’t even have enough English vocabulary with me.” His capital, always: the body (1.88 meters tall, fighting weight 110 kilos, 145 centimeters chest circumference).
The Austrian lifts weights for the American dream, pockets the competition in bodybuilding competitions and studies (economics).
Arnie got hold of his first film roles, met Kennedy’s niece Maria (now 66) in 1976 and fell in love (wedding 1986). Four children crown their happiness. He has been governor of California for eight years.
Arnold’s luck begins to crumble when he has an affair and then a son (now 24) with his housekeeper. Marriage off: 2011. Happy ending: In the meantime, all Schwarzeneggers get along well again.
Today his good friend Ralf Moeller (63) celebrates with him in the Smoky Mountains (Idaho). The peaks are snow-covered – almost like at home in the Alps. The party round is not big. Family, the dogs “Schnitzel” (Leonberger) and “Dutch” (Husky-Mix).
“Gladiator” Moeller to BILD: “Arnold is still shooting in Toronto, then he’ll come over. The Cohiba cigars are ready…” Schwarzenegger still likes them after several heart operations (including a new aortic valve).
The two met about 40 years ago. They became and remained friends. “When I came to the United States in 1992, Arnold hadn’t forgotten his promise: ‘Get in touch if you ever need my advice!'”
What else is Moeller planning for his friend today, on his birthday? “Maybe we’ll do a few mountain meters on the bikes. Arnold’s three strongest muscles are heart, brain and humor.”
Freddy Quinn congratulates Arnold Schwarzenegger
By: DANIEL BÖCKING
This surprise salute will knock out even a nearly invincible Terminator.
What only Schwarzenegger’s very close friends know: The “I’ll be back” mega-star has been a big fan of music legend Freddy Quinn (90, “Boy, come back soon”) since his youth. Both are connected by their country of birth, Austria.
Especially for Schwarzenegger, retiree Quinn sent birthday greetings to the action hero via BILD (and by recording) and mischievously introduced himself as “Manfred” (real name).
Quinn: “Hello, hello, dear Mr. Schwarzenegger. Or may I even say Arnold? I don’t know if we’ve known each other so long that I used to say Arnold.”
Then follows a serenade from the Arnie idol (more than 60 million records sold). Quinn sings, “Happy Birthday dear Arnold. All the best and health and much more. And everything SHE or YOU wish for in the future.”
A really beautiful thing of the heart. Quinn as one of the most successful German-speaking singers of all time, globetrotter, film star, icon of a generation, was one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first youth idols.
YES! Even a superhero looks up to others. Even if Arnold was a little thinner back then. The Terminator is still listening to the records today and should appreciate the surprise. Actually, entertainer Quinn has been in well-deserved retirement for years and rejects requests. But for one of his biggest fans, Mr. Schwarzenegger, even Mr. Quinn makes an exception.
We look forward to the reaction…
