A 79-year-old man waited 36 years and then burned down the car dealership

by time news

In recent months, we have told you quite a bit about luxury car owners who managed to destroy their vehicles due to careless driving, but it turns out that damage to vehicles is not only the domain of rich people who do not know how to handle powerful vehicles.

It was recently published in the USA that a 79-year-old man named Doi Frederick set fire to several vehicles that belong to the car dealership “Odaniel Automotive” in Indiana, when the latter told investigators that it was an act of revenge.

Revenge is probably a motive that does not surprise anyone, certainly not in the criminal field, but what did surprise the investigators is the timing, since Frederick claims that the agency sold him a “defective” Jeep in 1986 and that now “it is time to pay the price for what was done in the past”. If you don’t have a calculator with you, we’ll save you the complicated subtraction operation and reveal to you that it’s 36 years of holding a grudge…

According to the same publications in the US, Frederick (allegedly) arrived at the dealership lot in the early morning hours of July 17 and set fire to the Jeep Compass, when at a later stage the fire spread to the GMC Acadia as well as the Jeep Cherokee.

Needless to say that the vehicles that were burned are not in a condition that can be repaired in one way or another, so it is a damage of about 72 thousand dollars to the agency. If that wasn’t enough, Frederick continued his revenge after wandering with the help of his Chevy to another area of the dealership, where he managed to partially burn a Pontiac vehicle and cause an additional damage of about 12 thousand dollars.

After everything was recorded on the cameras that were installed on the spot, and Frederick admitted to all the accusations that were attributed to him, he also “explained”: “The dealership seller sold me a malfunctioning car in 1986 and refused to correct the injustice after I approached him about it.”

And if you thought that this is where the madness of that man approaching 80 years old ends, pay attention to the following two facts: First, he was less bothered by the punishment expected of him due to his criminal acts and more concerned with the fact that he was caught before he could see the vehicles go up in flames (when he watched it on video, he enjoyed every moment ). Second, he laughed while the investigators told him that agency workers were very scared of the whole scary fire scene he created (luckily no one was hurt).

By the way, while Frederik’s acts of arson are unprovoked and he admitted to committing them, he is suspected of another act of revenge, without any evidence to the contrary, only this time it is not a fire but rather the sticking of the car handles of several vehicles at the dealership with superglue…

And speaking of setting cars on fire at a car dealership, Frederick may have been inspired by a similar case in Germany in 2017, when an entire fleet of Porsche vehicles was burned at a German dealership (who knows what the motive was there…)

Now we can only ask why Frederick waited almost 40 years to exact his revenge, as at 79, he should be spending time with his grandchildren or the local community center instead of playing it the Joker at his peak on the streets of Gotham…
