Raichur: Railway Department is planning to set up ‘Lift, Escalator’ at Raichur railway station for the convenience of passengers. This will help senior citizens, children and disabled people. Raichur railway station was built during the British rule. It is one of the oldest railway stations in the country. There are three platforms here. Daily trains run through Raichur to various parts of the country.

Trains run through this route from Bengaluru, Hubballi, Hyderabad, Mumbai. Goods trains also run. Passengers suffered due to lack of lift and escalator. People’s representatives and local bodies requested to build a railway station for the convenience of the people. According to this, the railway department has taken action. The government has provided 1.3 crore rupees in the first phase to construct two lifts and two escalators. If the work is completed, it will help senior citizens, children, disabled people.
