The couple involved in the murder incident in Kalkisai area were arrested by the police at the Katunayake airport last night while they were trying to escape to Dubai.
The police were searching for the accused in connection with the killing of a person in Kalkisai on July 27.
The Kalkisai police alerted the airport police following information that the suspects were preparing to flee to Dubai.
Accordingly, a temporary travel ban has been imposed against the suspects by airport immigration department officials.
Police said the suspects were arrested after arriving at the airport to depart for Dubai on Emirates Airlines flight EK-653.
A 31-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested by Katunayake police and handed over to Kalkisai police for further investigation.
