Five people were injured when Prahadambal’s chariot overturned after two years at the Aadipura Chariot at the ancient Thirukokarneswarar Temple in Pudukottai Thirukokarnam.

Prahadambal Thirukokarneswarar temple is located in Thirukokarnam which is part of Pudukottai city area. This temple, which is under the control of the Hindu Charities Department, is an ancient temple dating back to the time of the King. This temple is also the main temple among Pudukottai district temples.

In this case, the Adi Thiru Vijah in this temple was not held for the past two years due to the corona virus, but the Adi Thiru Vijaya started on the 23rd with flag hoisting. In this case, on the ninth day of the festival, today, when there was a group of more than 200 people who were planning to hold a chariot procession, Vinayaka got up in the first chariot, Muruga in the second chariot, Pragadamba in the third chariot and Chandikeshwara in the fourth chariot.

Seven people were trapped in this chariot accident and were rescued by the bystanders. 5 people were injured and were sent to Pudukottai Government Medical College Hospital for treatment by ambulance and fire department vehicles. Also five people were unconscious in this accident and they gave first aid on the spot and then returned home.

After this, Pudukottai Assembly member Muthuraja immediately went to the spot, went to the Pudukottai Government Medical College Hospital and visited the accident victims and then visited and examined the area where the chariot crashed. Later, District Collector Kavita Ramu, District Superintendent of Police Vandita Pandey, Assistant Commissioner of Charities Department, Anita, who went to the spot, inspected the accident chariot and inquired about the chariot accident.

Also, this accident happened because the base of the chariot was not set up properly and the clamps on the foundation were not proper and the chariot race was not held for the last two years. But the public said that the chariot had an accident while the chariot race was being held without a white race, and unfortunately the chariot tilted and crashed when the chariot was not even two feet away.

Taking this accident as a precaution, the public demanded that the Hindu Charities Department and the district administration should take all kinds of precautionary measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

About this incident, Assistant Commissioner of Hindu Charities Department, Anita said, “This chariot procession started after obtaining all kinds of permission and the chariot procession took place only after the public works department certified that the chariot procession was not held for two years and the people who had gathered in large numbers pulled the chariot fast and the chariot tilted and crashed into an accident. Public allegation that it is not proper will be investigated and action will be taken if found to be so. All measures will be taken to prevent this from happening in future,” he said.

In this case, as hundreds of people gathered at the place where the chariot was leaning, more than 30 policemen who were gathered there urged the public to disperse through loudspeakers. .
