Marilyn, nata Norma Jeane Mortenson, had spent that Saturday, August 4 at home, in her mansion in Brentwood, Los Angeles, where she lived alone with housekeeper Eunice Murray. Between phone calls, business visits, therapy sessions with her psychiatrist, she had retired early to her room. And around 3.30 am the housekeeper, convinced that there was something anomalous, got up, finding the light on under her door, locked, and getting no response from the actress.
Over the years the hypotheses of murder they brought up now the Kennedy family, now the secret services, now organized crime. But in 1982, when the case was re-examined, no evidence emerged that would lead to a reconstruction other than the official one.
