New York: Capable of finding ship and plane wreckage in inaccessible places on the sea floor Researchers at Stanford University in California have created a humanoid robot.
OceanOne K ( The robot named OceanOneK ) can be controlled remotely. The person controlling the robot will be known as a ‘virtual diver’. The person controlling the robot will get a virtual feeling of exploring himself under the sea. The collected information will be transmitted by the robot in real time.
The robot’s artificial arms are equipped with special sensors. This robot man has two eyes that enable stereoscopic vision. These are connected to computer networks. The robot can pick up an object in its hand using force sensors attached to its arms, which the controller can sense its weight. This robot can survive underwater pressure.
The underwater tests started last September OceanOne K has so far explored four shipwrecks and one plane wreck. It is hoped that OceanOne K may be used to search for accidents at sea and so on.
