by time news

When a small plane made an emergency landing in North Carolina, the co-pilot died without a parachute.

A twin-engine CASA CN-212 in the United States made an emergency landing on the grass at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

The pilot was rescued from the plane with serious injuries and admitted to a nearby airport, but the co-pilot of the plane was found dead about 48 km from where the plane landed.

The co-pilot who ejected mid-air has been identified as 23-year-old Charles Hew Crooks.

According to the New York Post, police are investigating why the co-pilot was not in the cockpit when the plane hit the runway, and the 23-year-old Crooks was not wearing a parachute.

It is also unclear whether Crooks jumped or fell from the plane.
