Doha: Qatar extends deadline to install tracking device on tankers The date has been extended till October 1. The Public Works Authority (Ashgal) clarified this through Twitter. Earlier, Qatar had announced that tracking devices would be mandatory on tankers from August 1. Authorities have directed that a tracking device be installed in order to obtain a permit to enter waste treatment plants. Non-compliant tankers will not be allowed access to the plants from October 1.

Tanker owners who have applied will get special SIM cards for each tanker from Ashgal Customer Service, Salwa Road. Tanker owners receiving SIM cards after filling all the required information in the application [email protected] should be sent to the e-mail As soon as the information is received in the e-mail, the tracking device will be connected to Ashgal’s vehicle tracking system.

A tracking system was introduced to monitor tankers to ensure that effluents from plants are not discharged in prohibited areas. The requirement to install tracking devices on tankers was announced in February. Applications for the same have been accepted from March 1.
