UN in Eastern Congo 2 killed in firing by peacekeepers

People in the Democratic Republic of Congo have been the target of continuous violence by terrorists for years. UN to stop this and protect the people. A mass protest broke out saying that the peacekeeping team had failed.

20 people, including 3 peacekeepers, were killed when protesters engaged in violence since last Monday. The incident drew international condemnation.

In this case, the UN returned to work after going on vacation in the Eastern Congo border region. Soldiers belonging to the peacekeeping team suddenly opened fire.

2 people tragically lost their lives in the attack at Kasindi. 15 others were injured.

The UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Congo, Pintau Keida, said the suspected soldiers had been arrested and their nationalities were being investigated.

The reason why the soldiers opened fire is not clear. The shooting is under investigation.
