Villupuram: The hearing on the bail petition of 5 people including the Principal of Kaniyamoor School has been adjourned till the 10th. Srimati, a Plus 2 student, died on the 13th at the Kaniyamoor Sakthi Matric School Hostel in Chinnasalem, Kallakurichi district. School principal Ravikumar, secretary Shanti, principal Sivasankaran, teachers Haripriya and Keerthika were arrested on the 17th in connection with this case.

They had filed a petition seeking bail in Villupuram Mahila Special Court. The hearing on these petitions was heard yesterday in the presence of Judge (In-Charge) Shanti. At that time, Ms. Selvi, the mother of Smt., appeared in the court and filed a petition through a lawyer against the grant of bail to all 5 people. The judge accepted this petition. At that time, five lawyers, including the school principal, argued that bail should be granted considering the future welfare of the 4,000 students studying in the school.

Prosecution counsel Sangeeta Kurkeettu, CPCID, said the investigation was incomplete. Also, the Puducherry Jipmar Hospital Committee did not examine the postmortem report and file it in the court. Thus, he argued that the granting of bail should be postponed. The lawyer appearing for the student, CPCID, said that if the bail is granted while the investigation is incomplete, the witnesses will have to be dismissed. Therefore, he argued that bail should not be granted. Subsequently, Judge (In charge) Shanti ordered the hearing on the bail petition to be adjourned to the 10th.
