Edgar Schwind, the chairman of the Empfingen association “From person to person” was really enthusiastic. “This is one of the largest donations we have received. It is downright unprecedented.” A few fourth-graders had previously given him 455 euros on behalf of their 27-strong class on the first Friday during the holidays: the money comes from the class fund, the girls and boys have it from waste paper collections and from the bake sale at the enrollment of first graders generated.
The students are now moving to other schools and they wanted to donate the money – but with the ulterior motive that it stays locally. In addition, they had already read about VMZM in the press. The children also hope that their example will set a precedent. Schwind complimented them greatly. Here children think of other children who are not so quick on the move.
The head of the club promised that the money will go to a child who needs help and who will know that children have helped him.
